{"id":898,"date":"2019-12-16T23:41:42","date_gmt":"2019-12-17T03:41:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.macsaunsar.com\/?p=898"},"modified":"2019-12-16T23:41:42","modified_gmt":"2019-12-17T03:41:42","slug":"mac-spreads-christmas-cheer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/e-nexus.in\/mac\/2019\/12\/16\/mac-spreads-christmas-cheer\/","title":{"rendered":"MAC spreads Christmas cheer"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong><em>Report by Gerry\nD\u2019Mello<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Pics: Ronald\nD\u2019Souza<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of Christmas celebration, Mangalorean\nAssociation of Canada (MAC), which comprises of the Konkani Catholic Community\nof Greater Toronto, organized \u2018Christmas Concert and Party\u2019 with joy and\nsplendor at Sts Martha and Mary Parish in Mississauga on December 14.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The grand celebration began with the High Mass\nin Konkani celebrated by Fr Edwin D\u2019Souza, the spiritual director of MAC and Fr\nHenry Alva OFM Cap., the Provincial of the Franciscan Capuchins of \u2018Mary Mother\nof Good Shepherd\u2019 province, in the region of English speaking Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The church reverberated with the voices of the\nfaithful and the magnificence and significance of the Christmas festival was\nevident in the significant crowd gathered. The walls of the church resonated\nwith the mellifluous singing of the Konkani choir conducted by Merlyn Rodrigues\nand the music accompaniment by Lester Rodrigues and Wilson D\u2019Souza. The homily\ndelivered by Fr Henry Alva was very enlightening and thought provoking. He gave\na clarion call to create a Crib in the hearts for the birth of Christ to enjoy\nlove, joy and peace of Baby Jesus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the end of the Eucharistic celebration,\nManohar Pais, the dynamic president of MAC delivered the vote of thanks. He\nthanked the clergy, the Choir, the members of the executive committee and all\nthose who supported in making the event a grand success. He also thanked the\nsponsors and volunteers for their time, selfless sacrifices and energy during\nthe year 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The highlight of the programme, after the\ncelebration of the Holy Eucharist, was a Christmas tableau that was presented\nby MAC children of various age groups directed by Nina Crasta and Suneetha\nD\u2019Souza. Each child is to be commended for their unique accomplishment as the\nTableau was a resounding success and appreciated by all. Rony D\u2019Souza, the\nspiritual coordinator, ensured that the programme ran smoothly and was seamless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Christmas party celebration commenced at\nthe party hall with a hearty welcome that was extended to an overwhelmingly\nfull hall by the emcee, John D\u2019Souza. With his charming and inimitable style,\nJohn built a rapport with the audience.
